Strict Parenting and Overweight Child
A recent study suggests that strict parenting is associated with a child being overweight. It says that children who have parents that use the authoritarian lifestyle can cause children to have weight problems. The research suggests that the children overeat due to stress.
So if you are one of those parents that make their child eat everything in their plate before getting up from the table then maybe you need to reevaluate what you are doing.

That's an interesting take on obesity - I'm sure there is a lot of truth to it...although I believe the rising cause of juvenile obesity is mainly due to the combination of so many parents feeding their kids junkfood from day one and never making them get any physical activity. Eating a bag of Doritos while playing video games doesn't help the wasteline. Not to mention, sports and other physical fitness activities aid in building self-esteem and a sense of self-responsibility which can also keep a child on a healthy path!

I took the test and was authoratitive. I have rules and guidelines but allow room for discussion. I like being that way also because I feel that kids need rules. They need to know that it isn't ok to walk up and hit someone and that if they do, there will be a punishment following.
